Driving Down The Coast
This morning when we woke up, Sam still had a fever. Fortunately, it started to go down as we got ready for the day. Sam was still not feeling his best so we decided a nice relaxing day of driving down the Pacific Coast Highway would be best. This morning it rained a little bit but by the time we got on the road it had stopped and was just overcast but still warm. On our way down to Newport Beach we stopped first at Redondo Beach and then at Long Beach. We had a picnic on Long Beach as the day started to clear up a bit. Between Long Beach and Newport, Sam said something along the lines of "I think I might fall asleep." About 30 seconds later he was snoring. By the time we got to Newport, the sun was coming out and there were even some people swimming in the water, though I thought it was much too chilly for that. We had a nice drive back to Kevin's apartment and we didn't even run into much traffic.

Good Morning California, Thanks for the Fever
In the middle of last night, I woke up to a fever and chills. I took a few IBprofeun and I was able to go back to bed. I actually was able to sleep fairly well for the rest of the night. When Maddy and I woke up it was 10:30, so I actually got a good amount of sleep. Once I got up, I realized that the fever had not gone away. I forced down some breakfast and then wanted to go to the store to get some medicine, and food for the beach. I picked up some oscillococcinum, which is supposed to work pretty well. We also got a case of water. By this point the chills were so bad I was shivering in the 70 degree weather.
Our plan was to walk to the beach, but Madison suggested that it would be a better idea to drive. Wanting to save a few bucks on parking, I declined the suggestion and wanted to walk the 1.5 miles to the beach. Maddy made some peanut butter and banana sandwiches that we were going to take to the beach. My body warmed up on the walk, but my stomach didn't feel too good. Once we got to the beach we relaxed there for a good 3 or 4 hours. Finally I had had enough of the sun, but in an effort to have a more fun walk back, I navigated us along a different route. A different route that we later found out was a mile longer. The heat was intense, and the walk seemed to take forever. Definitely NOT a good thing for my fever. When we got back to Kevin's house, Maddy made chocolate chip cookies and I did my best to try to ease the pain. This was about 5:30pm Pacific time and around 8 the thermometer read my fever as 100.4. I'm still not feeling that well.
Moral of the story: Don't go on long walks in the sun when you have a fever and always listen to your wonderful girlfriend. I don't know what I'd be doing if it wasn't for her taking care of me so well.

Skip this section. Maddy is writing
Why, thank you, Sam, for such a sweet and wonderful introduction.
Today started with a lazy breakfast and lots of time to catch up with Doug. We headed out of Vegas around 1, after a stop at the Bass Pro Shops at the Silverton. I had to tolerate looking at outdoors stuff since Sam put up with going into almost every store in the Fashion Show Mall the day before. The drive went well, especially since I didn't have to drive. We were lucky to have such a bright, sunny day to drive on and we made it to Kevin's house in LA in just 4 1/2 hours, including the time spent in rush hour traffic. We enjoyed a delicious dinner with Kevin, his roommate, Calvin, and his girlfriend, Tencia.

A Day in Vegas
Today we spent some more time in Vegas along the strip, but before we talk about today we will go over a more pressing issue: The Title of This Blog. See, I'm not actually writing this on May 24th. It is actually May 25th and I am sitting in Kevin's apartment in California. Spacious. There may be some things in this blog that don't make much sense. That is because Maddy is sitting next to me telling me to write things (Including the random "Spacious" a few lines back), so whenever you see a random word it is due to her bossiness. Originally I had the title as "Sam's California Trip 2010". I liked the title, but Maddy didn't like it. Somebody. She felt it didn't include her narcissistic enough. I asked Kevin for some advice, and a few jokes later the title is "Maine Summer 2010", but no we didn't actually go to Maine. Do Oklahoma. She doesn't seem to learn that I don't take her suggestions.
Back to the matter at hand. VEGAS!
The main event of the day was going to the Adventuredome at Circus Circus.
We went on a few roller coasters and spinny rides, played a game of laser tag, and watched a few 4D movie/rides. Maddy and I got motion sick, and she started whining a lot, so we left and got some lunch at a wonderful restaurant called The Cantina, Located in the Tuscany Hotel and Casino on Flamingo Road. Maddy got a seafood burrito that was awesome, and I got Chile Relleno that was pretty good as well. The whole meal was reasonably priced due to a buy one get one free coupon from Doug and Cedes. We also had used coupons for Madame Toussauds and the Adventuredome. After lunch we went to Fashion Show mall, where Maddy was able to look at all the clothes and shoes her heart could desire.
From there we went back to Doug & Cedes house for dinner and a relaxing evening playing Wii.

Going to California
Today Maddy and I left Park City, Utah to head to Las Vegas, Nevada, our first stop on our summer trip to our friend's wedding. I left my house around 8am and after picking Maddy up and after a few quick stops (including one to my friends at PCBagels) we were heading down the canyon around 8:30. The drive went by pretty quickly, and we were in wonderful Las Vegas around 1? (we're not too sure exactly when).
First, we ate lunch at Uncle Doug and Aunt Cedes' house. Around 4 we decided to head down to The Venetian.
We toured around the shops, and made our way into Madame Toussaud's was figure museum (Pictures soon to come). The Venetian smelled very strongly of perfume, and it was too much for us to handle so we went outside. We were just in time to catch the Pirate show 'Sirens' at the Treasure Island Casino.
After the show, we met up with our friend David and headed over to Fremont Street. Fremont Street was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed their canopy light show. Where we watched Don McLean's 'American Pie'.
While on Freemont Street I tried a Deep Fried Twinkie, and Deep Fried Oreos. Both tasted as good as they sound (they sounded awesome to me).
After that, we had had enough and headed back to Doug and Cede's house.
